This Canada Goose spent February 1998 in extreme western Tarrant County. I have had mixed feedback as to its racial identity; most believe it is Branta canadensis hutchinsii - Richardson's Canada Goose. Update: January 2000:- I have seen a few more small geese, and now feel that this bird is a hutchinsii with a neck band - click here to see six similar (but somewhat variable) from Dallas with a darker individual that may be minima. One thing that these photos do establish is that hutchinsii can be as small as a Mallard:
